The nylon was invented by Wallace Carothers. This man was part of the DuPont Corporation company, which was formed in The USA. He was the director of the research centre. About him, we know that he was a chemistry student specialized in polymers; molecules composed of long chains of atoms. The properties of the nylon were that it was strong but fine synthetic fibre. It was patented in 1935 and produced massively in 1939. This material is used on stockings, toothbrushes, parachutes, fishing lines and surgical thread, among others.
